Anton Ehrenfried

Anton Ehrenfried (born September 9, 1895 in Hollabrunn , Lower Austria ; † November 1, 1974 there ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

Life

After attending elementary school and lower school in Hollabrunn, Anton Ehrenfried graduated from the commercial academy in Vienna . After graduating from high school , Ehrenfried found work at the Union Bank in Vienna . In 1925 he became an employee of the Volksbank in Hollabrunn. After Austria was annexed to Germany in 1938, he was forced into retirement. In the same year he was briefly imprisoned by the Gestapo . Only a year later, in 1939, he was employed by a credit union.

Ehrenfried held his first political mandate from 1934 to 1938, when he was mayor of Hollabrunn. In November 1949 he was sworn in as a member of the National Council in Vienna . In this position he worked until June 1959.

Awards

In June 1960 he was awarded the Silver Commander's Cross of Honor for Services to the State of Lower Austria .

Anton Ehrenfried Strasse in Hollabrunn also bears the name of the politician.
