Anton Friedrich König (medalist)
Anton Friedrich König (born June 13, 1756 in Berlin ; † January 2, 1838 there ) was a German medalist , sculptor and engraver.
Life
König was a son of the miniature painter Anton Friedrich König , the Elder (1722–1787). His son Friedrich Anton König (1794–1844) was also a medalist. He attended the Royal Prussian Academy of Arts and Mechanical Sciences in Berlin and was a student of the medalist Daniel Friedrich Loos . From 1776 to 1805 he worked as a die cutter at the Royal Mint in Breslau . In 1806 he succeeded the late court medalist Johann Stierle in Berlin. König created numerous medals for famous people and important events.
