Anton Gennadjewitsch Vorobyov ( Russian Антон Геннадьевич Воробьёв , English Anton Vorobyev ; born October 12, 1990 in Dmitrov , Moscow Oblast , RSFSR , USSR ) is a Russian road cyclist who specializes in time trials .

Career

Anton Worobjow was fifth overall in the junior class at the Trofeo Karlsberg in 2008 . In the 2010 season he won two days in the Poland-Ukraine stage race . A few weeks later, he stayed one place behind the medal ranks at the Russian U23 men's time trial championship. At the end of August 2010 he started as a trainee with the Russian Continental Team Itera-Katjuscha and then signed a contract for the following season. In 2011 he became the Russian champion in the individual time trial of the U23 class and achieved the greatest success of his career so far with victory in the Davide Fardelli Memorial in September . A week later he was third in the Chrono Champenois - Trophée Européen behind Luke Durbridge and Rasmus Christian Quaade . Vorobjow was considered a contender for a medal at the UCI Road World Championships 2011 a week later, next to Durbridge and Quaade, Michael Hepburn pushed him to 4th place.
