Anton Jurjewitsch Ponomarjow ( Kazakh Антон Юрьевич Пономарёв ; born October 31, 1988 in Qostanai ) is a Kazakh basketball player. He plays in the position of power forward at BK Astana in the Kazakh national league and in the VTB United League .
Career
society
Anton Ponomarev started playing basketball in his hometown of Qostanai. At the age of 12 he went to a sports boarding school in Astana and later to the Astana Tigers basketball club . Here he played until the end of the 2009/2010 season. During this time he became Kazakh champion five times in a row. He then moved to Serbia to FMP Železnik . After he got little working time there, he moved to Spartak Primorye in the Russian Superliga B during the 2010/2011 season . When BK Astana was re-established in Kazakhstan at the beginning of the 2011/12 season , he went back to Astana. With BK Astana he was two more times Kazakh champion and cup winner. In the VTB United League he reached the play-offs with Astana in the 2012/13 season and was named Best National Player of Kazakhstan.
National team
Ponomarjow participated for the Kazakh national basketball team in the 2007 Asian Cup. He achieved fourth place with his team. In this tournament he was the best scorer of his team with 17.6 points per game. At the 2009 Asian Cup , he was also one of the team's leading players, scoring an average of 15.6 points in eight games. It finished ninth with its team.
