Spartak Primorye is a Russian professional basketball club from Vladivostok . The men's team played in the top Russian league for a long time. After the dissolution of the Professionalnaja Basketbolnaja Liga (PBL), Spartak is back in the Superleague Russia , while the leading Russian teams compete in the VTB United League .
history
Spartak Primorje was founded in 1999 and played until 2003 under the name "Spartak-WGUES". For several years Spartak belonged to the top division Superliga. In 2010 there was a split and the leading clubs in the super league founded the PBL. One year late, Spartak was also admitted to the PBL in 2011 as a replacement for Dynamo Moscow , which had their license revoked . They also tried to take part in a European club competition. In the qualifying round for the EuroChallenge 2011/12 , however, they failed against national competitor BK Yenisei Krasnoyarsk . In 2013, the PBL was finally set in favor of the supranational VTB United League and Spartak played again in the Russian Super League from the 2013/14 season.
