Anton Koch (born April 19, 1859 in Pfronstetten ; † May 24, 1915 in Tübingen ) was a German Roman Catholic theologian , professor and rector of the University of Tübingen .

Life

Koch attended the Latin school in Riedlingen and the grammar school in Ehingen . He then studied Catholic theology at the University of Tübingen and was ordained a priest in 1884 . After working as a pastor, he became a repetiteur at Wilhelmsstift in Tübingen in 1886 . In 1891 he was promoted to Dr. theol. doctorate and then he worked as a chaplain in Stuttgart until he became an extraordinary professor of moral and pastoral theology in Tübingen in 1894 and a full professor from 1896. From 1913 to 1914 he was rector of the University of Tübingen.

As a member of the liberal section of the Tübingen faculty and a supporter of reform Catholicism , he repeatedly clashed with the Bishop of Rottenburg Paul Wilhelm von Keppler .

Since 1893 he was a member of the Catholic student union AV Guestfalia Tübingen .
