Anton Krzikalla (born August 30, 1887 in Laurahütte , Silesia, † October 5, 1944 in Sachsenhausen concentration camp ) was a German politician (USPD, KPD). He last lived in Mariadorf .

Live and act

Anton Krzikalla attended elementary and advanced training school in his hometown. He then worked for 25 years as a miner in Westphalia , Upper Silesia , Upper Bavaria and in the Aachen district . In the latter he was reprimanded for political activity. In 1919 he was elected community representative in Laurahütte for the Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany (USPD). In this capacity he remained active until 1921.

For the Communist Party of Germany (KPD), in which he had meanwhile joined, he became community representative in the community of Hoengen in 1929 . In 1930 Krzikalla was elected to the Berlin Reichstag as a member of the constituency 20 (Cologne-Aachen) . He left this prematurely in July 1931; Engelbert Esser moved up for him . In addition, he was chairman of the works council of Richter-Schächte in Laurahütte and chairman of the general works council of Vereinigte Königswerke- und Laurahütte AG.

After the transfer of power to the National Socialists, Krzikalla was in " protective custody " from February to December 1933 . He was arrested again in July 1937 and held in Buchenwald concentration camp between February 1938 and April 1939 . On August 22, 1944, he was arrested as part of the " Operation Grid " and deported to Sachsenhausen concentration camp , where he died in 1944.

Since 1992 one of the 96 memorial plaques for members of the Reichstag murdered by the National Socialists has been commemorating Krzikalla near the Reichstag in Berlin .
