Anton Piehatzek

Anton Piehatzek (born June 7, 1780 in Groschowitz near Opole , Upper Silesia , † after 1841 ) was a Silesian teacher and high school director in Opole and Konitz .

Life

Anton Piehatzek attended high school in Opole and studied theology, mathematics, physics, philosophy and philology in Wroclaw . In 1802 he became a teacher of Greek and mathematics at the high school in Opole.

In 1811 Piehatzek went to the newly opened university in Berlin , where he heard lectures from Johann Gottlieb Fichte , Friedrich Schleiermacher , Barthold Georg Niebuhr and Friedrich August Wolf , among others . In the spring of 1813 he returned to Opole and worked as a teacher again. In 1814 he was appointed (acting?) Director there.

From 1815 Anton Piehatzek was the first director of the new grammar school in Konitz, West Prussia . In 1818 he returned to Opole at his own request and became director there again. He mainly taught mathematics and physics. In 1840 (or 1841) he retired.

His brother Franz Piehatzek (1790-1840) was also a teacher of ancient Greek at the Opole high school.
