The Royal Catholic Gymnasium was a school in Konitz ( Conitz , Chojnice ) in West Prussia and Poland from 1623/1815 to 1939.

history

In 1623 Jesuits founded a school at their settlement in Conitz, which was elevated to a college in 1630 . After the order was dissolved in 1773, it was converted into a municipal school (grammar school?). During the Russian occupation this was abolished in 1812/13.

In 1815 the Prussian authorities founded a new grammar school. In 1827 it was named the Royal Catholic High School . The language of instruction was German, and since 1848 also a few Polish.

In 1920 the grammar school was continued in the new Polish state . In 1939 a hospital was set up there after the German occupation .

Since 1947 there has been a grammar school or lyceum again. Now there is the Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Filomatów Chojnickich at ulica Nowe Miasto 4–6.
