Romuald Frydrychowicz

Romuald Frydrychowicz (born February 7, 1850 in Tuchel , Province of Prussia ; † May 29, 1932 in Pelplin , Republic of Poland ) was a Polish Catholic priest , teacher and regional historian in West Prussia .

Life

The father Franciszek Frydrychowicz was a Polish patriotic publicist and member of the district council, the mother Maria, née Malinowska, daughter of a mayor. Two brothers also became priests, Zenon Frydrychowicz became the first Polish court president in Bydgoszcz. Romuald attended the elementary school in Tuchel, the Progymnasium in Pelplin and the grammar school in Konitz , where he passed the Abitur in 1871. He then completed the seminary in Pelplin and studied philosophy in Breslau and history and geography in Berlin . There he took the state examination. In 1878 Frydrychowicz was ordained a priest. Then he went to Halle , where he received his doctorate in 1880.

In 1880 Romuald Frydrychowicz became a history teacher at the Collegium Marianum in Pelplin, the only Polish Progymnasium in West Prussia. In 1920 he retired.

In 1922 he was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of the Rebirth of Poland and in 1928 was appointed Pontifical Chamberlain on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his ordination.
