Province of Prussia

The province of Prussia was a province of the State of Prussia . It was created in 1824 by merging the previous provinces of East Prussia and West Prussia and existed until 1878.

During the first partition of Poland in 1772 , the Prussian King Friedrich II had acquired the Prussian royal-Polish share without Danzig and Thorn . From this he formed West Prussia and added the territory of the Duchy of Warmia to the former Kingdom of Prussia , which he named East Prussia on January 31, 1773 by administrative act . The Kingdom of Prussia in the Prussian state was from 1773 in the provinces of West and East Prussia and the Netze District . As a result of further annexations of Polish territories, South Prussia and New East Prussia were added until the 1807 Treaty of Tilsit reduced the Kingdom of Prussia to the extent it had in 1793 before the second partition of Poland .

The province of Prussia , created in the Prussian state after the peace settlement of the Congress of Vienna on April 13, 1824 , initially in personal union , since December 3, 1829 in real union , continued to be called the Kingdom of Prussia . The seat of the administration was Königsberg . On April 1, 1878, the association was repealed by a law of March 19, 1877 and the Province of Prussia was divided into the new provinces of East Prussia and West Prussia.

The Provincial Parliament of the Province of Prussia existed for the province .
