Anton Schmidt (politician, 1797)

Anton Joseph Schmidt (born March 17, 1797 in Schildberg , (Moravia); † April 9,  1866 there ) was a German businessman and member of the Frankfurt National Assembly .

Life

Like his father, Anton Joseph Schmidt worked as a linen manufacturer and merchant in Schildberg ( Moravia ). He ran a yarn and flax factory. He completed his apprenticeship in Schildberg, Brno and Vienna . He married in 1817.

From 1824 to 1848 he was community leader in Schildberg, in 1848 he became commander of the National Guard in Schildberg.

From May 31, 1848 to July 22, 1848, Schmidt was a member of the Paulskirchenparliament in Frankfurt. His successor was Carl Polatzek . His constituency was Moravia ( Prerau , Weißkirchen ) , he remained non-attached, but voted with the left center.
