Anton Wessely

Anton Wessely (born February 11, 1965 in Vienna ) is an officer in the Austrian Armed Forces with the rank of brigadier . He is department head in the planning section (Section II) of the Federal Ministry for National Defense and Sport.

Life

Anton Wessely was born in Vienna in 1965 and, after attending elementary school and high school, joined the army as a one-year volunteer based on large funds . Following his officer training at the Theresian Military Academy from 1984 to 1987, he was drafted as a lieutenant in the anti-tank anti-aircraft battery in Mautern on the Danube .

Further assignments followed, five years as platoon commander and two years as battery commander. After Wessely's work in the staff of Panzer Staff Battalion 3, he attended the 14th General Staff Course at the National Defense Academy in Vienna from 1994 to 1997 . After the officer was second general staff officer in the Panzergrenadierbrigade 3, he became commander of the tank artillery battalion 3. From 2000 to 2005 he was also employed as a teacher at the National Defense Academy. In between he did additional general staff training in Toronto in 2003 .

In 2005, Wessely was appointed deputy head of training department A in management area 7 at the Federal Ministry of Defense .

On March 23, 2009 he took over command of the 3rd Panzer Grenadier Brigade from his predecessor, Brigadier Karl Pronhagl , which he held until June 2014. He is currently head of the Training A department in the planning section (Section II) of the Federal Ministry for National Defense and Sport. His area of ​​responsibility includes the training and affairs of the academies and schools of the armed forces.

Others

Anton Wessely has two sons from his first marriage. As a senior firefighter, he is a member of a volunteer fire brigade and is often used as an observer during disaster relief exercises.
