Anton of Apponyi
Count Anton Apponyi von Nagy-Apponyi (* December 7, 1782 , † October 17, 1852 ; also Antoine Comte de Apponyi ) was a diplomat of the Austrian Empire.
Life
Anton Apponyi came from the Hungarian noble family Apponyi . His father Anton Georg von Apponyi (* December 4, 1751, † March 17, 1817) was the founder of the 50,000-volume family library.
Apponyi studied Hungarian literature and acted as a promoter of science, art and industry. He acted as envoy at the Baden court in Karlsruhe , the Tuscan court in Florence and the Holy See in Rome . In 1826 he was appointed ambassador to Paris and remained in that position until 1849.
family
On August 17, 1808 Apponyi married the Countess Therese von Nogarola (1790–1874). Joseph von Hammer-Purgstall writes in his memoirs that she was "an excellent singer". In 1836 Frédéric Chopin dedicated his Nocturnes op.27 to her .
Count Rudolph II (born August 1, 1812), who has served as envoy at the Turin court since 1849, comes from the marriage .
