Rudolph from Apponyi
Rudolph Count Apponyi von Nagy-Appony (born August 1, 1812 in Karlsruhe , † May 31, 1876 in Venice ) was an Austro-Hungarian diplomat .
Life
The nobleman from the Apponyi family pursued a career in the diplomatic service. He held important positions in the course of his career.

- Envoy to the Electorate of Hesse and the Grand Duchy of Baden (1847–1849)
- Envoy in Turin , Kingdom of Sardinia (1849-1853)
- Envoy in Munich (1853-1856)
- Envoy to London (March 7, 1856– October 28, 1860)
- Ambassador to the Court of St. James in London (October 28, 1860– November 8, 1871) and, as such, participant in the London Conference in 1864
- Ambassador to Paris (December 13, 1871– April 30, 1876)
- In 1875 Austria-Hungary signed the Meter Convention in Paris .
Honors
Count Apponyi was the bearer of the Grand Cross of the Austrian-Imperial Leopold Order and, since 1865, of the Order of the Golden Fleece .
