Franz de Paula von Colloredo-Waldsee , also -Wallsee (born October 29, 1799 in Vienna , † October 26, 1859 in Zurich ) was an Austrian diplomat .

Life

Franz de Paula came from the noble family Colloredo . He was the son of the State, Conference and Imperial Cabinet Minister Franz de Paula Karl von Colloredo, who died in 1806 . After the premature death of his father, Emperor Franz I took care of the then 6-year-old boy. Franz de Paula von Colloredo-Wallsee joined the army early, but in 1820 embarked on a diplomatic career. In 1830 he was ambassador to Dresden . In 1837 he was ambassador in Munich . From 1843 to 1847 he was envoy to Saint Petersburg .

From March 12 to May 14, 1848 he was the representative of the Austrian government at the Frankfurt National Assembly . From January 19, 1849 to November 5, 1849 he was ambassador to the court of St. James . In 1856 he was ambassador to Rome. From May 1, 1852 to January 25, 1856 he was once again ambassador to the court of St. James in London.
