Baron Franz Binder von Krieglstein (born October 3, 1774 in Vienna ; † January 8, 1855 there ) was an Austrian diplomat .

career

From 1801 to 1843, Binder von Krieglstein was in the diplomatic service of the Austrian Empire for over 40 years . From 1803 and 1806 to 1808 he was chargé d' affaires in Berlin , and from 1810 headed a number of European embassies : 1810 to 1812 in Copenhagen , 1812 to 1813 in Stuttgart , 1815 to 1820 in The Hague , 1820 to 1823 in Turin , 1823 to 1824 in Lisbon , 1826 to 1837 in Bern and 1837 to 1843 in Dresden .

Binder von Krieglstein was one of the close associates of Foreign Minister Count Philipp von Stadion and Prince Klemens von Metternich , and is considered one of the pioneers of the Congress of Vienna . During his mission in Württemberg he was called to the Prague Peace Congress in 1813 . From 1813 to 1814 he headed the travel department of the State Chancellery .

His younger brother Friedrich Binder von Krieglstein (* 1775, † 1836) followed his diplomatic career.
