Antonia Grunenberg

Antonia Grunenberg (born May 2, 1944 in Dresden ) is a German emeritus political scientist .

Antonia Grunenberg studied sociology, philosophy and German in Tübingen, Frankfurt am Main and Berlin. She received her doctorate in philosophy at the Free University of Berlin in 1975 and her habilitation in political science at the Technical University of Aachen in 1986 .

Grunenberg is co-founder and board member of the Hannah Arendt Prize for Political Thinking and, among other things, a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the House of History in Bonn.

She has taught political science at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg since 1998 . Since 2006 she has been a member of the specialist scientific commission of the Federal Foundation for Coming to terms with the SED dictatorship . Her research focus is the life and work of the political philosopher Hannah Arendt . She is the founder and director of the Hannah Arendt Center at the University of Oldenburg. In 2009 she retired.
