Antonio Iannucci

Antonio Iannucci (born June 13, 1914 in Bolognano , Pescara Province , Italy ; † October 14, 2008 in Pescara , Italy) was Archbishop of Pescara-Penne .

Life

Antonio Iannucci studied Catholic theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University after attending the Almo Collegio Capranica in Rome . In 1938 he was ordained a priest in the Church of St. Augustine in Chieti , where he also worked as a pastor .

1955 he was by Pope Pius XII. appointed titular bishop of Hadriania and auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Penne and Pescara. The episcopal ordination donated to him on May 8, 1955 Adeodato Giovanni Piazza , Cardinal Bishop of Sabina e Poggio Mirteto ; Co- consecrators were Giovanni Battista Bosio , Archbishop of Chieti , and Benedetto Falcucci , Bishop of Penne and Pescara. 1959 took place by John XXIII. the appointment as Bishop of Penne and Pescara. With the elevation of the diocese to a metropolitan seat by John Paul II in March 1982, he was appointed the first Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Pescara-Penne. His resignation was granted by John Paul II on April 21, 1990.

Iannucci gave numerous lectures and published articles on biblical content as well as on cultural and religious-social topics. He was involved in the Telemare television network for 12 years.
