Antonio Maria Pucci (civil: Eustachio Pucci , born April 16, 1819 in Poggiole, a district of Vernio near Prato , Tuscany ; † January 12, 1892 in Viareggio , Italy) was an Italian Servite monk and priest. He is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church .

Live and act

Eustachio Pucci joined the Servite Order at the age of 18 and took on the name of Antonio Maria . In 1843 he was ordained a priest . From 1847 he was pastor of Viareggio for 45 years until his death. He devoted himself particularly to the elderly, the sick and the needy. For the Christian education of girls he founded a community of Servite women in his place of work, of which he was in charge. In order to implement church life, Antonio Maria set up groups of children and young people, men and women, as a pioneer. He is also the founder of the first Italian home for sick and poor children. Meanwhile, Antonio Maria worked for 24 years as prior and for 7 years as provincial of the Tuscan Servite Province .

He was founded in 1950 by Pope Pius XII. blessed - and from 1962 by Pope John XXIII. canonized .
