Antropomorphia (see Anthropomorphism ) is a Dutch death metal band from Tilburg , which was founded in 1989 under the name Dethroned Empire , disbanded in 1999 and came back together in 2009.

history

The band was founded in 1989 under the name Dethroned Empire by singer and guitarist Ferry Damen, drummer Marco Stubbe and guitarist Vincent van Boxtel. In the same year they recorded their first demos, where they were influenced by bands like Hellhammer , Celtic Frost , Infernäl Mäjesty and Bathory . From 1990 to 1993 the musical direction of the band changed towards Death Metal. She then changed her name to Antropomorphia. At the same time bassist Marc van Stiphout was added, who completed the line-up. Over the next year and a half, the group wrote more new songs, resulting in the demo Bowel Mutilation , which was recorded at RS29 Studio under the direction of producer Oscar Holleman and released in early 1992. Shortly after the release, the band reached a contract with the Swiss label Blackened Records , which in the second half of 1993 released the EP Necromantic Love Songs . This was followed by many gigs, which continued in 1994. Another demo followed in 1995 with I Have My Way , but it did not lead to the record deal they had hoped for. In 1999 the band split from their guitarist Vincent van Boxtel. The band decided to pause the project for the time being, as the members were also busy with other projects. During this time, however, they were still working on new songs.

In 2009 the band came together again and consisted of singer and guitarist Ferry Damen, drummer Marco Stubbe and bassist Marc van Stiphout. In 2010 the band worked on and recorded their first album. However, the band decided not to release this album. In early 2011 the band held their first concert since performing at Neurotic Deathfest in 2001 . While the band was working on new songs, they released the compilation Necromantic Love Songs The Crypt Records , which contained the EP of the same name, as well as the demo Bowel Mutilation . At the end of 2011 the band recorded their debut album Evangelivm Nekromantia in the Necromorbus Studios under the direction of Tore Stjerna . The album was released on Metal Blade Records in 2012 . In Germany, Evangelivm Nekromantia was indexed on April 22, 2013 based on the cover artwork and the texts by the Federal Inspectorate for Media Harmful to Young People.

style

In their early days, when the band was still called Dethroned Empire, the band was still oriented towards bands like Hellhammer, Celtic Frost and Bathory. Later she approached classic death metal, which is comparable to the music of Grave and Dismember . Inhonorus from stormbringer.at compared the musical atmosphere of the band with the earlier Grave and Dismember.
