history

The ANWR GROUP was created in 2001 from the merger of the Schuhwareneinkaufsgenossenschaft eG with the Ariston Schuh -kaufsvereinigung eG . The first was founded in 1919 in Hamburg , the second in 1926 as the Rheinisch-Westfälische Schuhwaren -kaufvereinigung eGmbH in Barmen .

More than 5,000 companies in the shoe, sports and leather goods industries with over 10,000 specialty stores in 20 European countries use the goods, marketing and services offered.

Part of the ANWR GROUP are goods and market-oriented trade cooperations such as ANWR Schuh, QUICK SCHUH, REXOR, SPORT 2000, GOLDKRONE and ANWR Media.

Structure and key figures

The international core markets of the ANWR Group are the Benelux countries of the Netherlands and Belgium, France as well as Austria and Switzerland. The ANWR GROUP also operates in the Scandinavian countries of Sweden, Norway and Finland and looks after dealers in Eastern Europe.

The total billing volume for the ANWR GROUP for 2019 was EUR 14.6 billion. The ANWR GROUP is organized as a cooperative and is managed from its headquarters in Mainhausen. The members of the Management Board are Matthias Grevener, Frank Schuffelen and Fritz Terbuyken. Holger Baierl has been the Chairman of the Supervisory Board since 2015.
