The Apleona Group GmbH is a German service provider in the real estate industry based in Neu-Isenburg . Apleona is one of the leading facility management companies in Germany.
The group emerged in 2016 from the former Building and Facility segment of the Mannheim-based industrial service provider Bilfinger SE , which was acquired by the Swedish investment group EQT . Apleona is active in four business areas with numerous operational subsidiaries : facility management , real estate advisory , interior design and building technology . Customers are large industrial companies, banks and insurance companies as well as fund companies and the public sector. In the 2017 financial year, almost 21,000 people were employed at around 210 locations in just over 30 countries and sales of 2 billion euros were achieved.
history
With effect from September 1, 2016, Bilfinger SE completed the sale of its real estate business at a price of 1.23 billion euros to the Swedish financial investor EQT and Apleona (founded with the articles of association dated February 16, 2016) commenced operations . On October 4, 2016, Jochen Keysberg presented the name Apleona at a launch event at the real estate trade fair Expo Real in Munich . Before he became CEO of the Apleona Group, Keysberg was responsible for real estate activities on the Executive Board of Bilfinger and made a move as part of the sale. The company name is a word creation from the word component pleon for 'more, rich, over' (from Greek pleo ) and the framing letter A , which should represent the real estate life cycle “from beginning to beginning” . The Latin word leo included should also stand for “the strength of the lion” and the necessary “bite in competition”.

In addition to the Apleona Group GmbH as the parent company and the main group company Apleona GmbH , which directly holds the investments, the group also includes numerous domestic and foreign subsidiaries .
The Apleona Group is active in four business areas (as of July 2017):
- facility management
- Facility management is Apleona's core business. Apleona HSG Facility Management employs over 17,000 people .
- Real Estate Advisory
- Real estate advice and management services are provided by Apleona GVA in Europe, GVA in the UK and GVA Worldwide in the rest of the world. Around 2800 people are employed at 43 locations worldwide and 61 billion euros are managed ( assets under management ). This makes Apleona GVA one of the leading real estate service providers in Europe.
- Interior work
- Apleona is one of the leading full-service fit-out companies and construction service providers in Germany. The operative unit of the business field interior design is the Apleona R&M Aufbau GmbH with headquarters in Munich and 15 other locations in Germany and Luxembourg. Around 200 people are employed.
- building technology
- The Apleona Wolfferts building based in Cologne advises with 605 employees customers in the planning and execution of building .
In addition to its home base in Germany, the group has locations in: Egypt, Bulgaria, China, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Canada, Kazakhstan, Croatia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Spain, Czech Republic, Turkey, Ukraine, Hungary and the United Arab Emirates.
Apleona is a portfolio company of the Swedish financial investor EQT .

Rankings and awards
The Lünendonk list 2017: Leading facility service companies in Germany led the company as the market leader in facility management in Germany in first place. In 2018, Apleona was close behind Spie Deutschland & Zentraleuropa GmbH in second place. In 2019, Apleona took place again 1 before game.
In the Bell Facility Management Report of the Cologne-based consulting firm Bell Management Consultants, which evaluates the services of the commissioned facility management providers on the basis of a survey of property managers , Apleona took first place among companies with more than 300 million euros in sales in 2018, after third place last year.
In January 2019 Apleona received the the Handelsblatt awarded Diamond Star Award in the category IT Innovation products and services to large enterprises for the Digital Ecosystem (digital ecosystem ') for optimized real estate and space management.
