Apollo 440 (also Apollo Four Forty or @ 440 ) is a British music band of the electronic music genre Big Beat .
Apollo 440 mixes classical rock elements with those of the electronic sound in their music and were thus involved in the further development of the big beat.
Foundation and career
Howard and Trevor Gray and guitarist Noko formed the band in 1990. Howard Gray ( sound engineer ) and Trevor Gray (trained pianist ) broke all the rules of well-known musical styles when composing their music. The first successful single Krupa , which was created in 1996 and was dedicated to the musician Gene Krupa , is still very well known today, as it ran for a while in the credits of the ran football show on Sat.1 . Also known is the song Stop the Rock , which, in addition to the song Sell Out by Reel Big Fish, serves as the theme music for the computer game Fifa 2000 .
The band's breakthrough came with the 1997 single Ain't Talkin '' Bout Dub , which was taken from the album Electro Glide in Blue . This song is an adaptation of a song by Van Halen ( Ain't Talkin 'About Love ). The album Getting High on Your Own Supply , released in 1999, achieved the greatest, also commercial, success .
In 2000, Apollo 440 released a soundtrack for Charlie's Angels as a maxi CD . Three years later a double album was released with Dude Descending a Staircase .
After an almost nine-year break, the musicians around the Gray brothers returned in 2011 with an EP ( A Deeper Dub ) and in January 2012 with a studio album The Future's What It Used To Be . The album is only available as a download in Germany, England and the USA. In Poland z. B. it is also officially available on CD.
