Apophys is a Dutch death metal band that was formed in 2012.
history
The band was formed in 2012 and named after the similarly written asteroid that is believed to hit Earth on April 13, 2029. The band consisted of singer Kevin Quilligan, guitarists Sanne van Dijk and Koen Romeijn, drummer Michiel van der Plicht and bassist Mickeal Schuurman. A little later, the band recorded their debut album, which was mixed by Quilligan and mastered by Stefano Morabito at the 16th Cellar Studio . The debut album was released in 2015 under the name Prime Incursion .

bravewords.com found that the band plays modern death metal on Prime Incursion , which focuses more on song structure than gadgets. The music is reminiscent of that of Cannibal Corpse , Suffocation , Immolation and Pyrexia . Daniel Laich from stormbringer.at described the music on the album as old-school death metal. The texts would deal with topics from the science fiction field , especially those relating to space. The song Dimensional Odyssey is technically demanding and there is "clean guitar work and [a] precisely timed drum game". Requiem for the Absurd would be reminiscent of Aborted and Ego of Asphyx .
