Apostol Arsache

Apostol Arsache also Arsachi (* 1789 in Hotovë / Hotahova near Përmet , Epirus ; † December 1869 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian doctor, economist and politician. He was Romanian Foreign Minister from January 22, 1862 to June 24, 1862 and after the assassination of Prime Minister Barbu Catargiu for a short time provisional Prime Minister of Romania .

Life

Arsache studied medicine after school. In 1812 he earned a doctorate in medicine from the University of Halle . His dissertation " De piscium cerebro et medulla spinali " was the first Romanian book of comparative anatomy. He then worked as a country doctor in Romania. The conservative politician was appointed State Secretary under Grigore Alexandru Ghica . In 1862 he was Romanian Foreign Minister for a few months and after the assassination of Prime Minister Barbu Catargiu on June 8th jul. / June 20,  1862 greg. until June 12th jul. / June 24,  1862 greg. additionally interim prime minister. Apostol Arsache died in Bucharest at the age of 80.
