The Apostolic Prefecture Gonder ( Latin : Apostolica Praefectura de Gondar ) was a Roman Catholic Apostolic Prefecture located in what is now Ethiopia , with its seat in Gonder .

history

The Apostolic Prefecture of Gonder was founded on March 25, 1937 by Pope Pius XI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Quo in Aethiopiae from cessions of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Abyssinia . On October 31, 1951, the Apostolic Prefecture Gonder was by Pope Pius XII. dissolved and the territory was annexed to the Apostolic Exarchate Addis Ababa.

In 1950 there were 820 Catholics living in the Gondar Apostolic Prefecture. The Apostolic Prefecture had a parish and two priests .

The only Apostolic Prefect was Pietro Villa MCCJ .
