Arĸalo Søren Isak Abelsen [ ˈɑqːalu ˈsœʌn ˈiːsak ˈabl̩sn̩ ] (according to the new spelling Aqqalu Abelsen ; * 1946 ) is a Greenlandic politician ( Atassut ).

Life

Arĸalo Abelsen ran for the first time in the 1987 parliamentary elections , but was not elected. In the parliamentary elections in 1995 , he again missed the parliamentary entry. He was also not given a seat in the 2002 parliamentary elections . Nevertheless, he was appointed Minister for Culture, Education, Research and the Church. In the same year, however, the Atassut left the coalition. In the 2005 election he was again unable to get a seat in parliament. Nevertheless, in May 2007 he was appointed Minister for Health and the Environment. In November 2008 he resigned. In the 2009 parliamentary election he ran for the Siumut, but was again not elected. Subsequently, he no longer took part in elections.
