The Río Ara is a mountain river on the south side of the Pyrenees in the north of the Spanish province of Huesca .

The Río Ara rises from several source streams at an altitude of 2930  m at Pico Meillón west of Mount Vignemale ( 3298  m ) and the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park in the Aragonese Pyrenees; it first flows through the glacial valley of the Valle del Ara to Bujaruelo and then the Valle de Broto . After almost 70 km, the nowhere diked and only rarely slightly dammed river flows from the west in Aínsa into the Río Cinca .
