Arab Nations Cup 1998
In 1998 the Arab Nations Cup was played for the seventh time. This competition was held in Qatar . The venue was Qatar's capital Doha . The Saudi Arabian team won this title for the first time. The teams played against each other in a league system in two groups. The group's best moved into the knockout round.
qualification
- Qatar qualified to host.
- Egypt qualified as defending champions.
- Saudi Arabia and Morocco were automatically qualified by qualifying for the 1998 World Cup.
- There were 4 qualification groups, divided by geographic region: the Levant , the Gulf , the Red Sea and North Africa . The following teams qualified:
