Historic rector's room

Exhibits from the history of the Hamburg University are presented in the rooms of the workplace; in the so-called historical rector's room. The exhibits include busts and paintings - for example one by the founding rector of Hamburg University Karl Rathgen - the gold-plated key to the main building of the university, the rector's chain of office , a gown , a presidential desk , first editions of works by important Hamburg scholars and a collection of writings on the History of the Hamburg University.

100th anniversary of the University of Hamburg

For the 100th anniversary of the university, the workplace organized a series of lectures that extended over several semesters. The lecture series, which were divided into five parts, opened up a glimpse into the history of individual subjects. The speakers were members of the Hamburg faculty, external academics and the former university presidents Peter Fischer-Appelt and Jürgen Lüthje , who provided insights into their terms of office. The founder of the Department of University History, Eckart Krause, also gave a lecture within the series of lectures. Krause devoted himself to the question of when and in what way the University of Hamburg began to deal with its history. "
