Archspire is a Canadian progressive and technical death metal band from Vancouver that was founded in 2009 under the name Defenestrated .
history
After the band was founded in 2007 under the name Defenestrated, it was renamed Archspire after several line-up changes in 2009. In 2011 the debut album All Shall Align was released . The phonogram was recorded at The Hive Studios under the direction of producer Stuart McKillop . In the same year the band played together with Decapitated , Aborted , Fleshgod Apocalypse and Cyanide Serenity in Essen . In April 2014, the second album The Lucid Collective was released on Season of Mist , which the band consisted of bassist Jaron Evil, drummer Spencer Prewett, guitarists Dean Lamb and Tobi Morelli and singer Oli Peters.
style
According to Sebastian Schilling from Rock Hard, the band play Progressive Death Metal. According to drummer Spencer Prewett in an interview with Schilling, “The Lucid Collective” is “a union of the mind-led beings of the universe” who “ created a common mind through lucid, conscious dreaming in order to form a new reality together, which can exist without the constraints of the linear course of time, so that all existences can exist simultaneously, regardless of whether they are alive, dead or dreaming ”. The motif of the album is the question of whether the human mind can endure and understand this fact. The lyrics would mostly come from Oli Peters. According to Toh Hong Rui from heavymetaltribune.com, the band play Technical Death Metal and have improved on The Lucid Collective compared to their predecessor. The style of the electric guitars is reminiscent of bands like Necrophagist , Origin and Spawn of Possession , while the songs sound like Hour of Penance or Decapitated in their more aggressive moments .
