Ardbeg ( Gaelic : An Àird Bheag ) is a small scattered settlement on the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay . It is located about five kilometers east of the Port Ellen ferry terminal and 16 km southeast of the island's capital Bowmore on the southeast coast of the island. Ardbeg can be reached from Port Ellen via a single-lane road that leads via Lagavulin to Ardtalla .
Ardbeg itself consists of only a few houses. In 1861 102 people were counted in Ardbeg, who were divided into 15 families. Of these, 99 people were born on Islay, two men were of Irish descent and one came from a state that was not explicitly recorded. Since 1815, the today's Ardbeg LVMH associated distillery Ardbeg resident, which made world famous the name of belonging to Port Ellen settlement. A few kilometers to the west is the Grade I listed Kildalton Castle .
