Arduini / Balich is an American heavy , doom and progressive metal band from Connecticut that was founded in 2013.

history

The band was formed in late 2013 by Victor Arduini, a founding member of Fates Warning , after his other project Freedoms Reign broke up. He was supported by Freedom Reign drummer Chris Judge, before the line-up was supplemented by Brian “Butch” Balich, the singer from Argus . Arduini and Balich already knew each other through joint appearances by their two bands. The debut album Dawn of Ages was released in February 2017 on Cruz del Sur Music . The record version contains the three cover songs Sunrise by Uriah Heep , Wolf of Velvet Fortune by The Beau Brummels and Black Sabbaths After All (The Dead) as a bonus.

style

Boris Kaiser from Rock Hard noted in his review of the album that four of the six regular songs exceeded the ten-minute mark. Sometimes you can hear similarities to the Fates Warning albums Night on Bröcken and The Specter Within . Otherwise there is a “Kauz Metal foundation in the sense of the Atlantean Codex or Argus”, Doom Metal elements and progressive passages. One issue later, Wolfram Küper interviewed Victor Arduini. The musician stated that he had founded the band because he no longer wanted to be active as a singer, as with Freedom Reign, and to take his original musical influences back into account and to incorporate more Doom Metal elements. Since the result was darker and harder than the material of Freedoms Reign, he decided to start a new band. On the basis of Doom Metal, he then tried to process many melodies and complex rhythms, while Balich contributed the lyrics and the vocals. He would describe the music as a mix of Doom and Progressive Metal. Raphael Päbst from Powermetal.de also reviewed the album and said that the songs oscillate between Doom and Heavy Metal, while the riffs are complex and progressive and the vocals have a majestic sounding character.
