Arge rustica is a plant wasp fromthe brush horn sawfly family . It is one of 18 species of the genus in Germany.
features
The plant wasps reach a length of 9 to 11 millimeters. The head, thorax and antennae are colored black. The abdomen of the males is completely black. In the females, the rear part of the tergites is yellow. The antennae of the males have fine hairs on the underside. The femora are black. The tibiae are yellow. The tarsi are predominantly yellow. The forewings have a broad darkening along the outer leading edge between the wing mark and the wing tip.

- Arge ustulata - The wing mark is not monochrome; There is a spot at the level of the wing mark.
distribution
The species is widespread in Europe. In the north, the occurrence extends to southern Sweden and England. To the east, their occurrence extends to Asia Minor , the Caucasus and the Far East of Russia .
Way of life
The plant wasps can be seen from May to July. The typical habitat of Arge rustica are forest edges and hedges. They feed on the pollen and nectar of various umbelliferae such as meadow chervil , meadow hogweed or bearwort .
The larvae feed on the leaves of oaks , especially English oak ( Quercus robur ).
