Innocentius Achleitner

Innocent Achleitner , also Innocenc Achleitner or Innocent Achleitner (* 22. November 1832 in Frasdorf , Kingdom of Bavaria ; † 5. March 1880 in Salzburg , Austria-Hungary ) was a singer of the vocal range bass , violin, viola and choir director.

Life

Innocentius Achleitner's father was the teacher and composer Ludwig Achleitner . His brother was the zither player Joseph Christoph Achleitner . He himself was a singer in the Dommusikverein and in the Mozarteum in Salzburg. From 1864 to 1874 he was Vice Choir Director. He was a singing teacher at the kk state secondary schools in Salzburg. The writer Arthur Achleitner and the conductor Rudolf Achleitner were his sons.

Innocentius Achleitner was known for researching older music. With 53 votes from Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, he is said to have saved the mass from destruction. In 1868 he published the Harmonias Poeticas by Paul Hofhaimer .
