Life

Rudolf Achleitner's father was the Salzburg cathedral choir director Innocentius Achleitner . First he attended business school because he was supposed to pursue a civil career. He later studied at the Mozarteum . His lecturers were Professor Lach and Joseph Friedrich Hummel . He acquired a certain reputation as a conductor early on. From 1884 he held various positions as Kapellmeister, for example in Essegg , Leitmeritz , Innsbruck , Pressburg , Klagenfurt , Landshut and Frankfurt am Main . In summer he was also active in various health resorts. On January 1, 1893, on recommendations from Carl Michael Ziehrer , Joseph Friedrich Hummel and Franz Eglseer, he took over the position of Kapellmeister in the corps chapel of the kk privately. Citizen Corps in Graz. In June of the same year he changed to the Stadttheater Klagenfurt as Kapellmeister under Franz Eglseer. In 1895 the position of a military bandmaster in the 3rd regiment of the Tyrolean Kaiserjäger was created. Rudolf Achleitner held this newly established position until his death. As early as 1895, the band received a string orchestra, which, under Achleitner's direction, achieved a high quality standard. First in Trento, stationed in Vienna from 1898 , the regiment with Achleitner was transferred to Bozen from April 1904. On January 20, 1904, he received the Second Class Military Cross of the Royal Order of Leopold (Belgium) . He also held military concerts in Bolzano, for example on March 5, 1905, Mardi Gras Sunday of the year, in the Hotel Greit. On October 8, 1907, he celebrated his twenty-fifth anniversary as a conductor in Bolzano. In April 1909 the regiment was stationed in Rovereto and in November the band was commanded to give concerts in Merano for a month. Achleitner suffered a stroke here on November 28, 1908 and died of the consequences in the city hospital in Merano on December 2, 1909.

After a highly approved title change to Tiroler Adler , the popular march could be played again. Due to its popularity, you can still find the old name.
