Argiope (nymph)
Argiope ( ancient Greek Ἀργιόπη Argiópē ) is one of the nymphs in Greek mythology .
According to the library of Apollodorus , she was the mother of the singer Thamyris , whom she gave birth to Philammon , the son of Apollo . According to Pausanias , however, she was refused marriage by Philammon, whereupon she emigrated from Parnassus to give birth to her son in the Thracian region with the Odrysen . In this way an attempt was made to explain the Thracian origin of Thamyris.
