Ariarne Titmus (born September 7 , 2000 ) is an Australian swimmer who specializes in medium freestyle distances . In 2015 she moved with her family from Tasmania to Queensland .

At the 2018 Short Course World Championships in Hangzhou , Titmus set a new world record in her victory over 400 m freestyle with 3: 53.92 minutes. She also became world champion over 200 meters. At the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju , she won the 400 meter title, where she defeated the favorite Katie Ledecky , and with the Australian 4 × 200 meter freestyle relay.
