Arifureta Shokugyō de Sekai Saikyō ( Japanese あ り ふ れ た 職業 で 世界 最強 ) is a Japanese online novel series by Ryo Shirakome that has been published since 2013. It was adapted as a light novel , manga and anime television series and belongs to the genres Isekai and Fantasy .

The high school student Hajime Nagumo ( 南 雲 ハ ジ メ ) is often bullied at his school because the popular Kaori Shirasaki ( 白 崎 香 織 ) wants to be friends with him. However, his classmates are jealous of the attention the Otaku Hajime receives from Kaori. Especially her fans Shizuku Yaegashi, Koki Amanogawa and Ryutaro Sakagami make life difficult for Hajime. But suddenly she and the whole class including the teacher Aiko Hatamaya are summoned to a strange world: after Tortus. You are supposed to fight the demons who are here at war against the people. Only when they are successful in battle can they return to their world. All students receive special skills for their task, most of them become strong warriors. Hajime, however, receives little power and the ability to transmutate. He can transform matter as many craftsmen in this world can. But since he is weaker than her, his classmates continue to look down on him and bully him. But when the group falls into a trap of monsters, Hajime is able to save his classmates with the transmutation. He is separated from them and ends up alone deep in the dungeon . In order to fight his way out again, he has to master his skills and make the necessary powerful weapons and aids. He meets the vampire Yue, the rabbit-eared Shea and the dragon-like Tio, who accompany him on his journey.
Book publication
The novel series by Ryo Shirakome was initially published online on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō platform from November 2013 . There it reached 14 parts so far, 10 of them from the main series and 4 additional stories. An adaptation of the series illustrated by Takayaki has been published by Overlap since June 2015 as a light novel , which so far comprises 10 volumes. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes an English translation of this series and the J-Novel Club platform publishes this translation online.
An adaptation of the novel as a manga , drawn by RoGa, has been published in Comic Gardo magazine since December 2016 . This is also published by the Overlap publishing house, which has also brought out the manga chapters in five volumes so far. These have also been published in German by Altraverse since December 2019 , and an English translation by Seven Seas Entertainment. As an offshoot of the manga, the series Arifureta Nichijō de Sekai Saikyō has been published in the same magazine and in three anthologies so far since July 2017 . This series is also published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment.
As a further offshoot, the light novel Arifureta Shokugyō de Sekai Saikyō Zero has been published since December 2017 . To date, three volumes have been published on the series by the same author and illustrator as the original. Since July 2018 an adaptation has been published as a manga in the Comic Gardo , which has also reached three anthologies so far. Both series are published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment.
Anime
Based on light novel and manga, the studios White Fox and Asread produced an anime series for Japanese television in 2019 . Directed by Kinji Yoshimoto , who wrote the scripts together with Shoichi Sato . The character design comes from Chika Kojima and the artistic direction was Naoki Aoyama .
The 13 episodes were broadcast from July 8 to October 7, 2019 by AT-X , Tokyo MX , Sun TV and BS11 in Japan. Aniplus Asia showed an English dubbed version a few weeks later, AnimeLab and Funimation published the anime online. Wakanim.tv showed Arifureta with French subtitles. The license for a German version was acquired from AniMoon Publishing .
Production of a second season was announced in October 2019.

The music for the series was composed by Yoshiaki Fujisawa . The opening title is Flare by Void_Chords feat. LIO and the song Hajime no Uta by DracoVirgo was used for the credits .
Sales figures
The light novel was in the Japanese sales charts of this division in the first half of 2017 at number 27, with over 84,000 copies sold. The franchise's first manga series hit the manga charts several times, most recently with the fourth volume, which sold over 62,000 copies in two weeks.
