Peter James Dolfen (born May 21, 1880 in East Longmeadow , Massachusetts , † May 31, 1947 in Hartford , Connecticut ) was an American sports marksman .

successes

Peter Dolfen participated in the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm in three competitions. In the individual competition with the free pistol , he finished second with 474 points behind Alfred Lane and ahead of Charles Stewart . In the team competition, he took first place together with Alfred Lane, Henry Sears and John Dietz . With 1916 points, the Americans held their own in front of the Swedish and British teams and thus became Olympic champions . Dolfen was the team's third-best shooter with 467 points. With the dueling pistol over the 30-meter distance, he did not get past 16th place.

Dolfen worked for the Milton Bradley Company for over 40 years . He was also active in the military in the Spanish-American War , served in the Philippines and China during the Boxer Rebellion .
