Yūta Toyokawa ( Japanese 豊 川 雄 太 Toyokawa Yūta ; born September 9, 1994 in Kumamoto , Japan ) is a Japanese football player. He has been under contract for Japanese first division club Cerezo Osaka since January 4, 2020 .

Club career

Kashima Antlers

Yūta began his career in 2013 in the J League with the club Kashima Antlers . He made his debut on March 1, 2014 with a 4-0 away win against Ventforet Corfu . He scored his first goal on March 15, 2014 in a 3-0 away win against Sagan Tosu .

On February 1, 2016, he was awarded for two years to the J2 League playing team Fagiano Okayama . There he completed 79 games across all competitions and scored 19 goals.

KAS Eupen

On January 5, 2018, the Division 1A team signed Kas Eupen , trained by Claude Makelele Toyokawa from the English club Leeds United on loan. Leeds United reported that they never signed Toyokawa ( Aspire Academy owns Kas Eupen and also has a partnership with Leeds United). So it was announced on January 21st that Kas Eupen Toyokawa had been signed by Kashima Antlers on an 18-month loan deal with a purchase option .

He made his debut for the club on February 17, 2018 against Zulte Waregem . In total, he completed 67 games for the club and scored 17 goals.

The miracle of the Kehrweg

On March 11, 2018, Toyokawa became a cult figure among fans of the Kas Eupen. On the last day of the regular season, the club was on the verge of relegation. 20 minutes before the end of the game, it was 0-0 against Royal Mouscron in the Kehrwegstadion . Since the direct rival KV Mechelen was 2-0 up, Eupen was now two points behind and a worse goal difference than their direct competitor KV Mechelen bottom of the table and thus on the relegation place. But Toyokawa scored a hat trick in the last minutes of the game and prepared a goal, which meant that Kas Eupen managed to stay in the league, level on points with KV Mechelen, but with a better goal difference .

Cerezo Ozaka

On January 4, 2020, he moved to the Japanese club Cerezo Osaka at his own request . The club from Osaka played in the country's first division, the J1 League .

International career

Toyokawa played for the Japanese U23, with whom he won the AFC U23 competition.
