Ariocarpus scaphirostris is a species of plant in the genus Ariocarpus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet scaphirostris is derived from the Greek word skaphe for 'ship' and the Latin word rostrum for 'beak' and refers to the shape of the wart tips. Trivial names are "Orejas de Conejo" and "Orejitas".

Ariocarpus scaphirostris grows geophytically with dark green to brown bodies that have a diameter of 4 to 9 centimeters and of which only the warts protrude from the soil surface. The warts, which are somewhat triangular in cross-section, are spreading, somewhat pointed and more than twice as long as they are wide. Areoles are absent or close to the tip of the warts.
The magenta colored flowers reach a diameter of 4 centimeters. The greenish fruits are 9 to 15 millimeters long.
Systematics, distribution and endangerment
Ariocarpus scaphirostris is found on slate limestone in just one valley in the Mexican state of Nuevo León . It was first described in 1930 by Friedrich Bödeker . Bödeker's original spelling Ariocarpus scapharostrus was corrected in 1991 by David Richard Hunt , as it is an invalid name according to Article 61.1 of the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature .
Ariocarpus scaphirostris is listed in Appendix I of the Washington Convention on Endangered Species . In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN it is as " Endangered (EN) ", i. H. classified as endangered.
