Armin Staigis
Armin Staigis (born December 9, 1950 in Krempermoor ) is a German officer ( retired Brigadier General ).
Life
Staigis joined the Bundeswehr in 1970 as a basic military service provider . Then he was trained as an officer in the hunter troop.
After various assignments, he completed the 24th General Staff Training (H) from 1981 to 1983 at the Management Academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw) in Hamburg. He was then transferred to the 1st Corps in Münster as a G2 Ops or G3 Ops . From 1986 to 1989 he was Deputy Defense Attaché at the German Embassy in London . In 1989 he became commander of the 223 Panzer Grenadier Battalion in Munich. In 1991/92 he was a consultant in the military policy and arms control department at the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg) in Bonn. In 1993/94 he moved to the department for foreign and security policy at the Federal Chancellery in Bonn. In 1995/96 he was used as G3 in the Plans & Policy Division in the International Military Staff (IMS) of NATO in Brussels. In 1996 he became Chief of the Personal Staff of the Commander-in-Chief of the Allied Forces in Central Europe in Brunssum. From 2001 to 2004 he was commander of the Jägerbrigade 37 “Free State of Saxony” in Frankenberg and during this time (2001/02) also commander of the German SFOR contingent and the German Battle Group SFOR in Rajlovac.
From 2004 to 2008 he was Chief of Staff of the 1st German-Dutch Corps in Münster. In 2008 he became head of the military policy department and representative of the German military representative in the EU military committee in Brussels. In 2011/12 he was Chief of Staff in the Army Office (HA) in Cologne. From 2013 to 2015 he was Vice President of the Federal Academy for Security Policy (BAKS) in Berlin.
He is a member of the advisory board of the Clausewitz Society .
Staigis is married and has one son.
