The Armstrong Platform is a largely icy plateau in the East Antarctic Victoria Land, 1200 m to 1800 m high . It represents the approximately 8 km long, northeastern extension of the Pomerantz Tableland in the Usarp Mountains .
The United States Geological Survey mapped the formation on the basis of surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy between 1960 and 1962. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it after the Canadian geologist Richard Lee Armstrong (1937-1991), who from 1967 to 1968 in the frame of the United States Antarctic Research Program worked at McMurdo Station .
