In his honor, the newspaper A Tribuna published a poem on June 25, 1917:
- Heróe internacional,
- Perna de massaranduba
- Que até mesmo o goal derruba
- Se nicht for de pedra e cal.
- Extrema esquerda cotuba,
- Na pressa not tem rival,
- Pequeno, como jujuba,
- Caberia num dedal!
- No nosso mundo sportivo,
- Tão pequenino e tão vivo,
- Tem provas esmagadoras
- De que é bastante apreciado,
- Causa de muito peccado
- Para a alma das torcedoras!
In a friendly against Botafogo FC on April 14, 1918, Arnaldo attracted attention with a fair play gesture. At 6: 1 for Santos, he intentionally missed an unjustified penalty .
