Andrea Baroni Peretti Montalto (* 1573 in Montalto delle Marche , † August 13, 1629 in Rome ; also Andrea Baroni Peretti ) was an Italian cardinal .

Life

Origin and early years

He was born the son of Domizio Baroni Mattei and his wife Fiore Costantini Peretti and was a distant cousin of Cardinal Felice Peretti di Montalto, who later became Pope Sixtus V. Andrea Baroni, so his original name, was educated at the cardinal's court and by the Adopted by the Peretti family, he therefore had the surname Baroni Peretti and was considered the Pope's nephew under family law. In 1588 he became apostolic protonotary .

Andrea Baroni Peretti received the red hat on June 8 of the same year, and on June 21, 1596 he was awarded Santa Maria in Domnica as the title diaconia. In 1621 he became cardinal protodeacon and on January 11th of the same year he opted for the Diakonie Santa Maria in Via Lata . Andrea Baroni Peretti was a participant in the 1621 conclave that Gregory XV. elected Pope and crowned Cardinal Andrea Baroni Peretti . On May 5, 1621 he opted for the cardinal class of cardinal priests , his titular church was Sant'Agnese in Agone . On October 24 of the same year he moved to the titular church of San Lorenzo in Lucina and became a cardinal proto-priest . Although he took part in the conclave in 1623 , he had to leave the conclave prematurely on August 3 and was therefore not involved in the election of Urban VIII three days later.

Episcopal offices and death

Andrea Baroni Peretti opted on September 16, 1624 to the cardinal class of the cardinal bishops and to the suburbicarian diocese of Palestrina . The episcopal ordination donated him on November 30, 1624 in Rome by Sebastiano Poggio , former Bishop of Ripatransone ; Co- consecrators were Lorenzo Azzolini , Bishop of Ripatransone, and Giovanni Galli , Bishop of Ancona . On March 2, 1626 Andrea Baroni Peretti opted for the suburbicarian diocese of Albano and on April 14, 1627 for the suburbicarian seat of Frascati .

He died in Rome after a brief illness. He was buried at the foot of the tomb of Sixtus V in the basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore .
