Arno Anke

Arno Anke (born July 30, 1879 in Chemnitz ; † August 18, 1968 in Mannheim ) was a German architect and was one of the protagonists of the garden city movement in Germany.

He settled in Mannheim around 1906 together with Hermann Esch as a freelance architect. In addition to the Mannheim garden city , garden cities also emerged outside the Rhine-Neckar region according to plans by Esch and Anke. B. from 1910 the garden city of Quasnitz near Leipzig . Furthermore, various residential buildings in Mannheim and the Protestant church in Maikammer (1913–1914) belong to the joint work of the two architects.

Anke was a member of the German Werkbund (DWB) .

A street in the Käfertal district of Mannheim is named after him.
