Arno Scherzberg

Arno Herbert Ralf Scherzberg (born December 27, 1956 ) is a German law scholar and university professor .

Life

Scherzberg attended elementary school and grammar school in Hanover from 1961 to 1975; on May 6, 1975 he graduated from high school. Following this, he studied from 1975 to 1977 at the University of Tuebingen and from 1977 to 1980 at the Münster University of Law . He passed his state examinations on April 27, 1981 and August 31, 1984, respectively. From 1985 to 1996 Scherzberg worked as a research assistant at the Municipal Science Institute of the University of Münster with Hans-Uwe Erichsen . June 27, 1989 received his doctorate he attended the University of Münster with the theme "protection of fundamental rights and intervention intensity" to Dr. jur. On April 28, 1998, he also obtained his habilitation in public law , European law and administrative theory at the University of Münster with the subject of "The Public Administration". This was followed by a substitute professorship at the University of Bremen in the winter semester 1998/99 and at the University of Erfurt in the summer semester 2000.

Since November 2000, Scherzberg has held the chair for public law and administrative science at the University of Erfurt. From 2000 to 2003 he was vice dean, then until 2006 dean of the political science faculty at the University of Erfurt. Since 2006 he has headed the interdisciplinary research group “Open Europe”.

In 2010 he received the Law and Society Prize of the Christa Hoffmann Riem Foundation , in particular for his services to basic legal research. In 2009 he received the prize for good teaching, in 2018 and 2019 a second prize for good teaching at the Political Science Faculty of the University of Erfurt.

Scherzberg took early retirement in the 2019 summer semester . In September 2019 he was one of about 100 constitutional law teachers who, with the open appeal for the right to vote, Downsized the Bundestag! turned to the German Bundestag .
