Hans-Uwe Erichsen

Hans-Uwe Erichsen (born October 15, 1934 in Flensburg ) is a German legal scholar and professor emeritus at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster .

Life

Erichsen studied law in Freiburg , Hamburg and Kiel and received his doctorate in Kiel in 1963 (he received a university award for his dissertation). From 1964 to 1969 he was a research assistant at the Universities of Kiel and Münster. In 1969 he qualified as a professor in the subjects of public law and European law at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. From 1970 to 1981 he worked as a professor for public, European law at the Ruhr University in Bochum . In 1980 he turned down the call to St. Gallen . Since 1981 he was Professor of Public , European Law , State - and administrative law in Münster and Head of Local Government Studies Institute. From 1986 to 1990, Hans-Uwe Erichsen was rector of the Westphalian Wilhelms University, then President of the University Rectors' Conference for seven years . From 1996 to 2000 he was President and Vice President of the Confederation of European Union Rectors' Conferences . Since March 2008 he has been Deputy Chairman of the University Council of the Westphalian Wilhelms University.

Erichsen had been a member of the Accreditation Council since 1999 and was its chairman from July 2002 to the beginning of 2005. He is also a member of the Austrian Accreditation Council and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Free University of Berlin .

The non-party Erichsen founded interdisciplinary research centers during his tenure as rector of the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in order to benefit from the decree of the North Rhine-Westphalian Science Minister Anke Brunn to withdraw 600 scientific positions nationwide and to bring them together in a pool.
